How Much Does a Business Website Cost and What Are You Actually Paying For?

What the €249 starting package includes, which optional services make sense and how to separate development from domain, hosting and maintenance costs.

Website and editorial work from the Less is More portfolio

When a small business asks how much a website costs, a number alone is not much help. A single page for a local consultant and a multilingual website for a growing company involve different work. The useful question is: what does this price cover, and what will I need to pay for separately?

At Less is More, website development starts from €249. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the advertised starting price is 490 KM. Start with the essentials, then choose additional work only when it has a clear purpose. These are estimates for an agreed scope, not a promise that every project will cost the same.

What you receive in the basic package

The base package includes one responsive landing page with up to five sections, built using an existing design system or template. Your supplied text, images and logo are integrated into the page. Basic brand colours and standard typography are included: you do not need to buy custom design just to use your own colours.

It also covers basic on-page SEO, contact details and a simple contact form, mobile and desktop compatibility, basic pre-launch testing and one revision round. The form's destination and delivery method are agreed before launch; this package does not automatically include a CRM or complex integrations.

For example, an independent accountant may need an introduction, services, credentials, frequently asked questions and a contact section. That can fit on one page if the supplied content is concise. An online shop, booking system or customer portal is a different scope and needs its own quote.

Why website prices vary

Page count, the amount of writing, original design work, languages and integrations all affect the time required. A business with approved copy and usable photographs is ready for a different starting point than one that needs its offer written and organised from scratch.

Compare quotes against the same list of deliverables. Ask who supplies the content, how many revisions are included and what happens after launch. A low initial price is not necessarily a saving if essential work is left outside the quote.

Optional services: what each charge buys

The following are one-time development charges in EUR, matching the existing calculator. Per-page services depend on the quantity you select. The final quote confirms the scope and billing currency.

Additional website page — €90 per page

Layout and integration of supplied content for one additional page, using the existing design.

Give a service or product its own clear destination instead of crowding the home page.

Website copywriting — €65 per page

Writing and structuring the text for one page from your business information.

Help visitors understand your offer and the next step without having to write everything yourself.

Custom visual design — €150

A bespoke visual direction and layouts beyond the standard template. Basic brand colours and standard typography are already included in the base.

Useful when your business needs a more distinctive presentation, not just a change of colours.

Advanced SEO optimisation — €150

Search-term research, recommendations for page structure and more detailed on-page optimisation within the agreed scope.

Align pages with what potential customers search for. Rankings and enquiry volumes are not guaranteed.

Google Analytics 4 + Search Console setup — €75

Initial configuration of GA4 and Search Console for your website; consent requirements are agreed before activation.

Understand visitor sources and search visibility. Ongoing reporting is not included.

Additional language implementation — €120

Implementation of one additional language version using supplied translations, within the agreed page scope. Translation is separate.

Let another audience read your offer in its own language without mixing languages on one page.

Choose extras around a real business need

A trades business with two distinct services may benefit from two additional pages so visitors can find the relevant offer directly. A consultant with a clear offer but no finished text may need copywriting before custom design. A company serving local and international customers may need an additional language, provided its translations are ready.

For a simple EUR estimate, the €249 base plus two additional pages at €90 each and copywriting for those two pages at €65 each totals €559. That is a worked example of one-time development costs, not a recommended package or a total including hosting and domain fees.

One-time development and recurring expenses are different

Development pays for building the agreed website. Keeping it online can involve separate ongoing costs. Domain registration, hosting, paid licences, translation, maintenance and complex integrations are not included in the base development price.

  • Domain: your website address, usually renewed annually. The price depends on the extension and registrar; check the renewal price as well as any first-year offer.
  • Hosting: the service that keeps the site available, billed monthly or annually depending on the provider. Capacity, support and renewal terms affect the cost.
  • Maintenance: updates, checks and support under a separately agreed scope, either periodically or as needed. Confirm who handles backups, content changes and any platform-specific updates.
  • Paid licences: any selected premium tools may require renewals. They should be named and priced before you commit, not added as a surprise later.

There is no universal recurring price to quote here: it depends on the provider and your requirements. Unknown costs are not zero and should not be described as included. Ask for the amount, billing frequency, renewal terms and responsibility for each expense before approving the project.

Transparent pricing makes the decision easier

A useful quote separates what you need now from what can wait. It shows the base, each extra, quantities and the estimated total, with exclusions stated clearly. You can then decide whether an extra page, better copy or a second language solves a real problem for your customers.

Calculate your website estimate. Select only the services you need in the existing calculator, review the itemised total and request a quote by email. The calculator uses EUR; the Bosnian starting offer is 490 KM. Final pricing and recurring expenses are confirmed before agreement.
